Involvement in the AECLJ and attendance at the annual conference is open to judges or persons acting in a judicial capacity who are concerned with the application of competition law, whether in a specialist context or as part of general domestic law. There is no fee to be on the mailing list but there are fees for the annual conference.
Currently over 300 individual judges from across Europe are kept abreast through e-mails. Those involved include judges from all levels of the judiciary including first instance judges specialising in competition or commercial cases, administrative law judges as well as judges of supreme or appellate civil courts. The activities of the AECLJ are supported by the judges of the European Court of Justice, the Court of First Instance, of the EFTA Court and judges from EEA Member States, from Switzerland which, though an EFTA State, is not within the EEA and from the United Kingdom.
